Job Description

A Senior Accountant plays a key role in overseeing and managing the financial records, compliance, and analysis for an organization. They typically report to the Accounting Manager or Controller and work closely with other finance and operations staff. Their responsibilities involve ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to financial regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting:

    • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial information.
  • General Ledger Oversight:

    • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
    • Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial reporting requirements.
    • Coordinate with external auditors during financial audits.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:

    • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
    • Monitor variances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Accounts Management:

    • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes.
    • Review invoices, payments, and collections.
  • Tax and Regulatory Filings:

    • Prepare or oversee the preparation of tax filings.
    • Stay updated on changes in tax regulations and accounting standards.
  • Process Improvement:

    • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures.
    • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
